Unusual sight can be seen in the San Francisco Bay.
When viewed from a distance, the picture resembles the Dutch tulip
fields, although vegetation place has an indirect relationship. In
fact, the bright spots is nothing but salt ponds that are used for
the extraction of salt from sea water. In artificial ponds water
evaporates and leaves only a crystallized salt, colored algae and
micro-organisms, and its hue depending on the degree of salinity.
Ponds with low and medium salinity have a greenish or pinkish color,
and the higher the salinity, the more water a reddish pigment .Also,
the weather also affects the color of the water body. In the pouring
rain ponds palette changes, and sometimes does become
transparent. |
